Royal Speech
“Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Morocco's involvement in accelerating the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 has been further enhanced by the adoption of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development, for which a participatory approach was used. This approach integrates economic, social and environmental dimensions and is based on a clear constitutional and legal frame of reference.
As part of the Strategy’s implementation, a framework for governance and a set of sectoral plans for sustainable development have been established with a view to promoting the transition to a green economy by 2030.”

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES AND KEY SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
The right to health, education and decent housing are fundamental human rights, which every citizen must fully enjoy. Similarly, equitable access to public infrastructure and facilities for all is a guarantee for the eradication of social inequalities and poverty among the most vulnerable populations, and for a better equity in the distribution of resources between territories.
Today, ensuring equitable access for all is a priority for the sustainable development of Morocco.
On the other hand, Morocco's natural resources and ecosystems constitute a real wealth, whose balance is essential to human health. Indeed, the coastline, the forest, the oases, the mountainous ecosystems, etc. are extremely vulnerable to climate change and their overexploitation can pose a threat to this balance. The impact of climate change is also particularly felt on our soils and water resources, which also suffer from the pressure of demographic development, intensive agriculture and industrialisation, as do energy resources. The rational use and preservation of our resources is therefore becoming a collective responsibility in order to meet the challenge of sustainable development at both national and regional level.
This challenge also involves employment, which requires the development of a competitive and sustainable economy that ensures the protection of resources and encourages the creation of new jobs for our young people in order to support the national dynamic.
Finally, Morocco is rich in its cultural plurality, its History and its heritage, both tangible (buildings, museums, etc.) and intangible (know-how, traditions, values, etc.). The enhancement of our cultural heritage is necessary because it represents an important capital for Morocco and its citizens. Its preservation is a priority for the sustainable development of Morocco.
